Myanmar hit by Cyclone 'Mocha', 3 killed; West Bengal and Bangladesh also affected

  • Cyclone 'Mocha' caused havoc in Myanmar, with three deaths, and disrupted traffic, electricity, and other supplies
  • The cyclone also reached Cox's Bazar beach in Bangladesh but is now turning into a low pressure system

Late on Sunday, Cyclone 'Mocha' hit the Sittwe beach of Myanmar, causing havoc in the region. The cyclone caused the death of three people and uprooted hundreds of houses and trees with winds blowing at a speed of more than 210 km.

The supply of traffic and electricity has been disrupted as a result. The cyclone also reached close to Cox's Bazar beach in Bangladesh, but the Meteorological Department has reported that it is turning into a low-pressure system, resulting in little loss of life and property in Bangladesh.

The impact of Cyclone 'Mocha' also affected West Bengal, although the state was saved from its full force. Since the night of the cyclone, there has been rainfall with strong winds in the coastal areas of West Bengal, East and West Medinipur, South and North 24 Parganas. Light rain has also been reported in some areas of Kolkata. Bihar and Jharkhand also faced strong thunderstorms late in the night.

The Meteorological Department has reported that the minimum temperature in Kolkata on Monday will be 26.1 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature will be around 37 degrees Celsius.
